Frequently Asked Coaching Questions
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a personalized developmental system where a client and
coach work one-on-one to help the client clarify and achieve their
goals. Clients change limiting behaviors and maximize outstanding
performance.
What is the role of the Coach?
The coach is an objective partner who works outside a company's
history, personal agendas and office politics. The coach listens,
guides, challenges and supports the client to achieve their goals.
The coach guides the client to discover which goals will be most
meaningful. It is the coach's job to help the client move from
ordinary or successful to extraordinary. The primary job of the
coach is not to give the client direction. This is a joint process
where clients discover what they are capable of rather than being
told what to do .
What are the differences between Consulting, Therapy, and
Coaching?
The management consultant is project-oriented and assists with
strategy formulation and implementation. Therapy is often for people
dealing with some type of dysfunction. A therapist attempts to
repair past problems and deficiencies. Coaching is very present
and future-oriented and geared toward action, not just talk. Coaching
is for high-functioning individuals who want to accomplish more.
The coach is future-oriented and works to increase future
productivity. If a client or team has a certain pattern of thinking
or behavior that is limiting, a coach helps them figure out what
it is and how to change it. The coach also works with clients to
define strengths so they leverage those better.
What is the fee for Coaching services?
Coaching programs are customized to each specific situation. Fees
are also customized. A first month fee (includes orientation and
assessment time) and subsequent monthly fees are agreed upon. For
most agreements, fees are paid at the beginning of the month for
that month’s sessions.
